My association with Pujya Swamiji and Arsha Vidya Gurukulam goes back to 1988. Since 1993, I have been attending classes in AVG, Saylorsburg with Pujya Swamiji, Swami Viditatmanandaji, Swami Tadatmanandaji, Swami Pratyagbodhanandaji, and Swami Tattvavidanandaji at every opportunity I can get. It was grace that gave me the courage to quit my job and do the 3-year course (2010-2013) with Pujya Swamiji and Swami Sakshatkritanandaji in Anaikatti.
On Sundays, I teach Vedanta on SKYPE and on Thursdays I teach meditation in the Union County Public Library. The meditation classes include Vedanta in everyday life. I feel blessed that even though I live in the US, I have been able to incorporate the use of Hindi and Gujarati languages in my teaching in a nursing home where the inmates are elderly Indians, who eagerly await my arrival on Fridays so that they can listen to Vedanta through stories. The whole endeavor of teaching is, in fact, learning for me.
I have used my background as a librarian to create an online catalog for AVG, Saylorsburg Library. I hope to see its completion not too far in the future. At present, some 3000 books have been cataloged. Wherever a digital copy of the book is available, I have provided a link. You can look at the catalog at https://avglibrary.libib.com/
I have been filling in as a teacher at Saylorsburg ashram in the children’s programs whenever they need me which is usually from March to May.
